Anti-vehicle Booby Traps
Anti-vehicle booby traps were specifically designed to be able to severely damage or completely destroy a traveling vehicle. Troops riding in the vehicles would attempt to avoid any booby traps by placing sand bags over the road to reduce the explosion damage. This, however, would create more difficulty in mobility.
B-40 Anti-tank Booby Trap
Inside of the hollow bamboo piece is a B-40 rocket that is electronically set off once the tank crosses the firing wire. The B-40 booby trap was placed on a 45 degree angle in order to more effectively destroy the tank.
Soviet Anti-tank Mine TMB-2
This mine would be made out of a plastic material so that mine detectors could not sense it. The mine would be buried in the ground and would activate with a pressure of 350 pounds. The TMB-2 could also be waterproofed by being covered with wood, and it would still be mine detector proof. The entire trap weighs about 15 pounds with 11 pounds of explosives.
The Chinese Number Four (Dual Purpose) Mine
This mine design was taken from the Chinese and used during the Vietnam War. It is a dual purpose mine because it can be activated in two ways; by vehicle or person. It can be activated by a pressure of 30 lbs as well as by a 10 pound pull on a tripwire that is connected to the striker-retainer pin of the fuze. It has a total weight of 10 pounds, 4 of them being the explosives.
